Ingredients
6 thick-sliced bacon strips, cut into 1/2 -inch pieces
1 1/4 pounds cubed peeled butternut squash (1-inch cubes)
3 medium Granny Smith apples, peeled and cut into wedges (about 4 cups)
2 medium pears, peeled and cut into 1-inch cubes
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground mace
1/4 cup cold butter
1/2 cup chopped pecans, toasted
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees
- In a large skillet, cook bacon over medium heat until almost crisp, stirring occasionally. Drain on paper towels.
- Combine squash, apples and pear in an ungreased 9×13 baking dish.
- In a small bowl, mix brown sugar, flour, salt, cinnamon and mace.
- Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Fold in pecans and bacon.
- Sprinkle over squash mixture.
- Bake until squash and fruit are tender, 45-50 minutes.
